Ibrahim Abdul Rahim Ayew, also recognized as Ibrahim Ayew or Rahim Ayew, is a distinguished Ghanaian professional footballer renowned for his role as a defensive midfielder. Born on April 16, 1988, Ayew’s journey in football has been marked by remarkable achievements both on and off the field.

 

Club Career

Ayew’s football odyssey commenced at Adisadel College, where his passion for the game ignited. He embarked on his professional career with F.C. Nania, a team founded by his father, before making a notable transition to Eleven Wise. Despite a promising prospect with TSG Hoffenheim in Germany, fate led him to Egyptian giants El Zamalek FC, where he adorned the pitch with his talent for five prolific years. His European adventure unfolded with Lierse S.K. in Belgium before returning to Ghana to don the colors of Asante Kotoko. The allure of new challenges beckoned him to Gibraltar, where he contributed significantly to Europa and Bruno’s Magpies, leaving an indelible mark in the Premier Division and currently doing exploits with Lincoln Red in Gibralter.

 

International Career

Ayew’s prowess extends beyond club borders, as evidenced by his stellar performances representing Ghana at various levels, from U-17 to the senior team. His notable contributions include appearances in prestigious tournaments such as the African Cup of Nations and the CAF African Nations Cup Tournament (CHAN), where his exceptional talent earned him accolades, including two Man of the Match titles in 2009. Additionally, he graced the global stage, donning Ghana’s colors at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
